Get Ready For *Another* New T14: U.S. News Law School Rankings To Be Published This Week
Can the T14 rankings get even more absurd? You betcha.
It’s been a long time coming, but the 2024 edition of the U.S. News law school rankings will finally be published on Thursday, May 11.
The rankings were supposed to be released on April 18 but the unveiling was then pushed to April 25 thanks to an “unprecedented number of inquiries from schools” questioning errors within the embargoed data. Shortly before that date arrived, U.S. News decided to delay the release of the error-ridden rankings once again, providing absolutely no guidance on when they’d actually be published.
From what we knew, U.S. News has really dropped the ball on its calculations regarding employment data in its new methodology, which was supposed to give full credit to those employed in school-funded fellowships and those pursuing further graduate education. Those calculations have reportedly been corrected.
Happy Lawyers, Better Results The Key To Thriving In Tough Times
During all of this commotion, U.S. News removed its preview of the new T14 law schools. And now we know why — thanks to the changes made to employment outcomes, there’s another new T14. Law.com has the details:
When the final survey is released on Thursday, the T14 will look somewhat different from what was released on April 11, with a shuffle between a couple law schools. There also are now two three-way ties and a pair of two-way ties, effectively reducing the T14 to the “T8.”
Ah, yes. This will surely help future law students decide which school is right for them. The newest version is even more ridiculous than the one that was released on April 11, which, as a reminder, looked like this:
1. Stanford
1. Yale
3. Chicago
4. Harvard
4. Penn
6. Duke
6. NYU
8. Columbia
8. UVA
10. Northwestern
10. Berkeley
10. Michigan
13. Cornell
14. UCLA
